City Announces Firefighters’ Class of 2016 Graduation

The latest class of firefighters from the Syracuse Fire Department Training Academy graduated on Friday, July 29.

The city held a ceremony in recognition of the graduates at the Public Service Leadership Academy at Fowler High School.

“These new recruits are joining an elite group of public servants, giving of themselves, and committing their careers to the people of the city of Syracuse,” Mayor Stephanie Miner stated. “We are all proud to see these new firefighters join the strong tradition of dedication, and valor, that is the Syracuse Fire Department.”

“The Department is looking forward to welcoming these 16 new firefighters, and assisting them as they transition from recruits to firefighters,” Syracuse Fire Chief Paul M. Linnertz stated. “It is my hope that they are able to enjoy a long and rewarding career with the Syracuse Fire Department.”

The 16 firefighters who graduated from the training academy are all city residents, and will assume their new assignments Aug. 2. The graduates’ names are as follows:
