City Appoints New Syracuse Regional Airport Authority Board Chair

By Staff

syrairMayor Stephanie Miner has announced she will appoint Patrick Mannion, the Syracuse Regional Airport Authority’s (SRAA) Board Development Committee’s current vice chair, to serve as chair of the group’s board of directors.

The development committee recommended the move following the resignation of former SRAA board chair William Fisher.

Fisher served as chair since 2011; Mannion’s appointment will be effective Sept. 9.

Earlier this year, SRAA formed a Board Development Committee in order to make recommendations in the instance of vacancies on the board, and to provide strategic planning guidance.

According to officials, the committee recommended Mannion’s appointment due to “his experience, extensive knowledge of the airport’s strategic plan, operations, and the board’s priorities,” the group said.

Mannion is also currently the vice chair of the Columbian financial group, and holds an MBA from Syracuse University.

His current SRAA term will expire December 31, 2018.

According to the city, SRAA board members serve on a volunteer basis, and are not compensated for their work.

Appointments to the board are made by the Mayor Miner, Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney, the Towns of Dewitt, Salina, Clay and Cicero, the North Syracuse Central School District Board of Education, and the East Syracuse-Minoa Central School District Superintendent.

Fisher will continue to remain a member of the SRAA board.
