CNY Housing and Homeless Coalition Requests Applications for Grants to Fight Homelessness

By Staff

housingThe Housing and Homeless Coalition of Central New York has reportedly requested applications from non-profit agencies who may be seeking all, or part of, over $400,000 in federal funding to fight homelessness in the region.

The deadline to apply for the funds is Aug. 1, and the grant’s purpose is to “create permanent supportive housing for the chronically homeless” or “rapid rehousing for individuals, families, unaccompanied youth under age 24, and persons fleeing domestic violence,” HHC said.

Applicants must be non-profit organizations, or government agencies residing in Onondaga, Oswego or Cayuga counties to qualify for the money.

In addition, The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development allocated a total of $8.2 million to the Central New York region earlier this year, in an effort to fight homelessness overall in the region.
