NYS Department of Transportation to Give Update on I-81 Project

By Staff

i81The New York State Department of Transportation will hold an open house regarding the Interstate 81 Viaduct Project on Thursday, Oct. 6.

The meeting will take place from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the lower level ballroom of the Oncenter, at 800 S. State St. in Syracuse, and feature the latest project information, according to officials.

The DOT decided to hold the open house prior to the release of its Draft Environmental Impact Statement, which will be available for public review in early 2017.

Attendees will see the current status of the various alternatives under development, as well as new traffic information showcasing travel times to various destinations, the state said.

Officials will also present the anticipated property impacts for the different alternatives at the meeting.

Project Director Mark Frechette will provide a brief project overview at 6 p.m., and project team members will also be available to answer questions.

The open house is part of the continuing effort by the Department of Transportation to encourage public participation in the development of transportation projects.

In addition, the Oncenter is handicapped accessible, and a Spanish-language interpreter will also be available for participants.

Interested individuals may contact Gene Cilento at (315) 428–4351 if a sign language interpreter, assisted listening system, or other accommodation will be required to facilitate attendees’ participation in the event.
