By Staff

stephanie_minerMayor Stephanie Miner raised the minimum wage for city employees to $15 per hour Oct. 21.

More than 60 city employees will be affected by the wage increase.

According to reports, prior to the change, some city employees had been earning as little as $8.75 per hour.

The city’s wage increase will apply to full-time employees who work at least 10 weeks per year, and will take effect immediately, officials said.

The new pay rate is expected to cost the city $222,432 per year.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo also recently announced a plan to increase the minimum wage for fast-food workers to $15 per hour, incrementally, over the next five years.
