Miner Again Calls on State for Increased Infrastructure Spending

By Staff

Miner Rebuild NYMayor Stephanie Miner joined members from Rebuild New York Now, a coalition of labor union representatives and construction companies, at a press conference Tuesday, in order to call on state legislators to include funds for improved infrastructure throughout the state in this year’s budget.

“With billions in settlement funds in this year’s budget, we have an unprecedented opportunity to make investments in modernizing, and upgrading our infrastructure,” Miner stated. “I am pleased to join the Rebuild NY Now coalition in pushing for these important upgrades. With just a few days to go before the budget is finalized, now is the time we need to raise awareness about the importance of funding infrastructure across the state.”

In addition, Miner said she has been urging legislators to support improved infrastructure efforts in Syracuse for the past few months, buy imitrex injection and, so far, has received support from several area legislators, including Sen. John DeFrancisco, R-Syracuse, and Rep. John Katko, R-Camillus.

“There is widespread agreement that New York needs to invest in its infrastructure if we’re going to remain competitive and create jobs,” said Mike Elmendorf, president and CEO of Rebuild NY Now. “Today, our diverse coalition is calling on the legislature to seize this opportunity. Investing in infrastructure projects right here in Central New York will not only create jobs, and save New Yorkers money, it will ensure the safety and well-being of New York families who every day ride on roads and bridges that are in a state of disrepair.”

Rebuild NY Now is a group whose members advocate for appropriate investment in the state’s deteriorating roads and bridges,  a city press release stated.
