New Yorkers Displeased with Frosty Winter Weather in October

Motion Blur of CarWhile summer and fall never seem to last as long as they should, some particularly low temperatures in mid-October have New Yorkers already reminiscing about July and August.

According to CBS New York, temperatures fell into the upper 20s and lower 30s last week, much to the dismay of NY residents. While it isn’t much of a surprise, many are frustrated that the cold weather came about so early.

“It’s freezing,” said Robert Mocase of Long Island City. “It was much warmer last weekend.”

The frustration largely stems from many locals being unprepared for the weather when it comes to their clothing. Many people still haven’t dug up their winter gear from the depths of their basement, or simply haven’t purchased any new clothes yet for the upcoming season.

“I’m actually not ready,” said Liz Ramamurthy of New York City. “I need to get a coat, I got rid of my coat last year.”

Savvy New Yorkers buy diazepam usa will invest in the right materials when shopping for winter clothing. Linen possesses high air permeability and heat, making it ideal for chilly weather. In fact, linen has heat conductivity five times higher than wool, and 19 times that of silk.

Despite the early cooldown, there is still hope for the tri-state area. According to local NYC news affiliate PIX 11, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts a reasonably mild winter for the region.

In fact, the NOAA goes on to note that there is a 40% chance that temperatures will be warmer than normal during the upcoming winter. They suggest that this may cause more rain than snow, potentially making commutes much easier this year.

For now, most cities have temperatures highs in low-50s, which is more than reasonable for this time of year. However, if the mid-October chill is any indication, New Yorkers may want to start bundling up early.
