The Syracuse City School District has announced all schools will have a half day March 14, while SCSD staff takes part in training that will cover shelter-in-place procedures, and active shooter/emergency response training.
“To accommodate this, all schools will dismiss on a half-day schedule,” the district stated on its website. “If you have questions about the half-day schedule, please contact your child’s school directly.”
Many school districts across the country have offered similar training to employees, following the Feb. 14 mass shooting that left 17 dead at a high school in Parkland, Florida.
Cayuga Community College, and the town of Cicero, will also offer active shooter training in the near future, according to an article on syracuse.com.
