The organization awarded eleven $500 to $1,500 college scholarships to minority students in the Syracuse City School District for academic excellence.
According to officials, the students had been required to possess a cumulative grade point average of 85 or higher, have exhibited academic achievement, and demonstrated community service involvement in order to receive the awards.
The following SCSD students received the scholarship funds:
Jabril Moore, Leah Sinclair Tucker, Fatuma Bile, and Samixchha Raut, of Nottingham High School; Alexis Walker, Jaylen Worrell, Ilean Corry, and Jerri White, of Corcoran High School; Nyhrie Balaam-McGriff, of the Institute of Technology at Central; N’Daisha Williams, of Fowler High School; and Ismael Diaz, of Henninger High School.
Four other students from local schools also received scholarships from the organization.
