Team Creating New Downtown Space to Present Findings from Public Meetup

By Staff

perseverancepark!melk, the design team creating a new downtown space in the area near Perseverance Park, will return to Syracuse Tuesday, Nov. 10, to present their findings from a visit in September to Syracuse.

The public has been invited to “meet and mingle” with the artists, and their team, at the SUNY Oswego Metro Center at 5 p.m. Tuesday, and then to listen to a presentation about the findings, and the next steps in the public process, at 5:30 p.m. in the center.

No official design concepts will be discussed at this session, according to the city; rather, the public will have the opportunity to learn more about the artists’ work, what the team has learned from previous public engagement sessions, and what ideas could be considered in the process.

!melk, a New York City-based design firm is working in collaboration with public artist Cecil Balmond to recreate the space currently occupied by Perseverance Park, and the former Common Center Plaza.

The design firm, led by Jerry van Eyck, came to Syracuse in September for a series of public engagement sessions regarding the project.
