U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara Charges Nine, Including Former Cuomo Aides, with Federal Corruption

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara’s office has charged nine people, including two former aides from Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration, in a complaint that alleges federal corruption.

The complaint has cited two bribery and fraud schemes, which are centered around funds connected with Gov. Cuomo’s economic development projects throughout the state of New York.

In addition, the complaint said the two aides in question, Joseph Percoco and Todd Howe, along with the president of SUNY Polytechnic Institute, Alain Kaloyeros, have been charged as a result of “two overlapping criminal schemes involving bribery, corruption and fraud in the award of hundreds of millions of dollars in state contracts and other official state benefits.”
