22nd Annual Mary Nelson Youth Day and Annual School Supply Giveaway

The 22nd Annual Mary Nelson Youth Day and Annual School Supply Giveaway is being held in and around Sankofa Park (corner of South Salina Street and Wood Avenue) on Sat., Aug. 19, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

There will be a game area, live entertainment, vendors and local food, including barbecue (BBQ).

This ‘back-to-school’ event offers free backpacks and school supplies for local students / youth.

According to event coordinators, donations are needed.

All donations may be dropped off at The Mary Nelson Youth Resource Center which is located at 2849 South Salina Street, Syracuse, New York.

Event sponsors include: Oprah Winfrey Network, Wegmans, Walmart, The Rite Aid Foundation, Coca-Cola (Northeast), Amazon.com, The Hartford and others.

Mammogram and other medical testing is also expected to be offered at the event location.
