The Friends of the Central Library Present Mystery Series Author William Kent Krueger Nov. 12
The Friends of the Central Library (FOCL) are pleased to welcome the third author in its 2024-2025 acclaimed author series. William Kent Krueger’s appearance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 12th at the Civic Center’s Crouse Hinds Theatre.
Raised in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon, William Kent Krueger briefly attended Stanford University—before being kicked out for radical activities. After that, he logged timber, worked construction, tried his hand at freelance journalism, and eventually ended up researching child development at the University of Minnesota. He is currently a full-time author.
Krueger writes a mystery series set in the north woods of Minnesota. His work has received awards, including the Minnesota Book Award, the Loft-McKnight Fiction Award, the Anthony Award, the Barry Award, the Dilys Award, and the Friends of American Writers Prize. His last nine novels were all New York Times bestsellers. Ordinary Grace, his stand-alone novel published in 2013, received the Edgar Award, given by the Mystery Writers of America in recognition for the best novel published in that year. The companion novel, This Tender Land, was published in September 2019 and spent nearly six months in the top ten of the New York Times bestseller list. His most recent novel, The River We Remember, was published in September 2023 and was an instant New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, and international bestseller.

Presented annually by the Friends of the Central Library since 1995, FOCL is a nonprofit organization that produces and promotes one of the longest running library-related lecture series in the country. The annual series has brought over 170 world-famous, diverse authors to Syracuse to entertain, inform and inspire. Funds raised by FOCL through the author series and other initiatives benefit the Onondaga County Public Library system (OCPL).
